Obama and Biden's Friendship as Told Through Pop Culture Quotes

While Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama were giving speeches about how to move our country forward during the final night of the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina, there were a few moments in which they evoked a great sense of national pride. There were moments in which they made promises for the future. There were a few egregious uses of the word “literally.” But there was also a very obvious strain of brotherly love. From what we could tell from last night’s speeches, Biden and Obama are basically the Batman and Robin of politics. They are absolutely BFFs.

Just take under consideration the song Biden walked out to: “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” by Jackie Wilson. If that’s not a nod to this political “bromance” (for severe lack of a better word) I’m not sure what is. Then we have Biden’s little moment, in which he thanks “Bo” (I personally would have gone with “Barry”, since Bo is also the name of the President’s dog) for nominating him again for Vice President. Obama returned the friendly call-out by calling Biden a “loyal friend” and casting him a friendly glance, complete with that million-watt smile.

But all this friendship and good will makes us wonder. Biden said he’d like to take us “inside the White House to see the President how I see him.” Well, we didn’t really do that. So instead, we’ve picked choice moments from some of the best dynamic duos in pop culture so that we might imagine what life is really like with these super best buddies:

Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.

Biden: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. President… and it’s worth fighting for.
